From floare, or possibly from a Vulgar Latin root *inflorīre, from florīre, from Latin flōrēscere, present active infinitive of flōrēscō. Compare Aromanian nflurescu, nfluriri, Dalmatian inflorer, cf. also Italian fiorire.
