[edit]From Proto-Polynesian *kite (compare with Maori kite, Tahitian ʻite)[1] from Proto-Oceanic *kita-i suffixed from *kita from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *kita (“to see”) (compare with Tagalog kita).[2][3]
