λωγάνιον

Etymology

[edit]

Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *(s)leh₁g- (weak, faint), the same root of λαγαίω (lagaíō, to release) and λαγαρός (lagarós, slack, loose), thus "skin hanging down". Intermediate forms, such as *λώγανον (*lṓganon), *λώγη (*lṓgē), cannot be determined, however.[1]
