Ancient Greek

Etymology

For *τέμανος, with assimilation, from Proto-Indo-European *temh₂nos, from *temh₂- (to cut); whence τέμνω (témnō, I cut). Confer with τέμαχος (témakhos). Cognate with Mycenaean Greek 𐀳𐀕𐀜 (te-me-no).
