Etymology[edit]

Spread into the standard language from Old Church Slavonic милостꙑн҄и (milostynʹi, mercy), from Proto-Slavic *milostyni. Morphologically equivalent to ми́лост (mílost, mercy) +‎ -иня (-inja).
