Etymology

From Old East Slavic мѣстьце (městĭce), мѣстце (městce), from Proto-Slavic *městьce, from *město (place, town) +‎ *-ьce. Equivalent to мі́сто (místo) +‎ -це (-ce). Compare Polish miejsce.
