Etymology

The initial element тӱй- derives from тӱй (tüj, road). The latter element -виж derives from Proto-Permic [Term?], from Proto-Uralic *woša-. Compare Komi-Zyrian вож (vož, branching, intersection) and Udmurt вож (vož, crossroad, intersection).
