Yakut[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From хатырыктаах (qatırıktaaq, scaly) (from хатырык (qatırık, scale)) + бөх (böq, garbage, litter) + тэллэй (telley, mushroom).

Why this name? As the English Wikipedia article (accessed 24 August 2022) has it, "This mushroom is unusual because it will turn black and dissolve itself in a matter of hours after being picked or depositing spores."
