According to Perixanjan, from the Middle Median descendant of Proto-Iranian *Rasta-. Compare Inscriptional Parthian 𐭓𐭎𐭕𐭊 ‎(rstk /*Rastak/), Inscriptional Middle Persian 𐭫𐭮𐭲𐭪 ‎(lstk /*Rastag/) from the same source. The form Երաստ ‎(Erast) is from Parthian.
