Borrowed from Persian پریخوان (parixân, a person who summons or conjures a jinn or peri), from پری (pari, peri) and خواندن (xândan, (archaic) to call, summon). Used as a given name among Persians: compare the name of Parikhan Khanum, a Safavid princess.
