Etymology[edit]

Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *treh₂ǵ- with a prothetic ա- (a-) and cognate with Ancient Greek τρώγω (trṓgō, chew, eat), τράγος (trágos, he-goat).[1][2][3] Related to արօտ (arōt).

  2. (figuratively, of fire) to burn down
  3. (usually in the mediopassive, intransitive) to graze, to pasture, to feed
