Etymology[edit]

The older spelling is ծկոյթ (ckoytʿ), from *ծլկոյթ (*clkoytʿ), from *ծուլկոյթ (*culkoytʿ), borrowed from a Kartvelian language: compare Laz წულუ კითი (c̣ulu ḳiti, pinky, literally small finger).
