[edit]Recorded in Norayr's dictionary as a Middle Armenian word.[1] The place of attestation in the literature is unknown.
Borrowed from Classical Syriac ܫܠܦܐ (šlpˀ /šelpā/, “a knife-like iron tool for grasping or pulling out something”).[2]
