Old Armenian

Etymology

From earlier *վազր (*vazr) (compare վազրաւոր (vazrawor, soldier carrying a mace)), borrowed from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Persian wzl (wazr, mace), which is related to Modern Persian گرز (gurz, club, mace). See also վաղր (vałr).
