Old Armenian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From unattested Ancient Greek *φωσουρά ‎(*phōsourá, firefly, literally light-tailed), composed of φώς ‎(phṓs, light) + οὐρά ‎(ourá, tail). Compare the Armenian name of the insect: լուսատտիկ ‎(lusattik), կայծոռիկ ‎(kaycoṙik).
