Etymology

From the root ד־ה־ר. Compare Arabic دَحَرَ (daḥara, “to chase away”).

Verb

דָּהַר • (dahár) (pa'al construction)

1. To run and be transported quickly.
   • Nahum 3:2:

     קוֹל שׁוֹט וְקוֹל רַעַשׁ אוֹפָן וְסוּס דֹּהֵר וּמֶרְכָּבָה מְרַקֵּדָה׃

     kol-shot v'kól-rá'ash ofán v'sús dohér umerkavá m'rakedá.

     The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.
