Biblical. The first person listed as with this name is in Genesis 41:51 (English), so named "for God has caused me to forget...": the name literally means "one who causes [another] to forget" or "(I/you/he) causes (or is causing) [another] to forget". Attested to in Akkadian as 𒈨𒈾𒋛𒄿 (Menasii).
