עָצוּב • ('atsúv) (feminine עֲצוּבָה, masculine plural עֲצוּבִים, feminine plural עֲצוּבוֹת)

1. (of a person) Sad, unhappy: experiencing the emotion of unhappiness.

   היינו עצובים. ― hayínu atsuvím. ― We were sad.

2. (of an event, situation, story, etc.) Sad: causing sadness, or such as to cause sadness.

   תאונה עצובה ― t'uná atsuvá ― a sad accident
