Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Biblical Hebrew וּכְאוֹר (and as the light), cf. 2 Samuel 23:4. The [aɪ̯] sound may have been influenced by מעשׂה (mayse). Compare the etymology of ברוגז (broygez).[1]
