- מײַן דאגה! ענטפֿערט ער און ציט מיט די אַקסל, און תּוך כּדי דיבור (וואָס אַ ליטוואַק קען!) איז מישבֿ צו דערגיין די זאַך.
- mayn dayge! entfert er un tsit mit di aksl, un tokh kedey diber (vos a litvak ken!) iz meyashev tsu dergeyn di zakh.
- How should I know! He answered with a shrug, and in the same breath (What a Litvak is capable of!) decided to get to the bottom of it.
