Etymology[edit]

A blend of תַּשְׁבֵּץ (tashbéts, crossword puzzle) +‎ חֵץ (khets, arrow) and presumably calque of English arrowword.

Noun[edit]

תַּשְׁחֵץ (tash'khétsm (plural indefinite תַּשְׁחְצִים, plural construct תַּשְׁחְצֵי־)

  1. A crossword puzzle whose clues are written into the squares that would otherwise be black, with arrows indicating the direction of the corresponding lights.
