Etymology

From Aramaic אפסנתין / ܐܦܣܢܬܝܢ (/⁠ap̄sinṭīn⁠/), from Byzantine Greek ἀψίνθιον (apsínthion). Cognate to Latin absinthium, absinthiātum (vermouth, wormwood wine). Doublet of أَفْسِنْتِين (ʔafsintīn, wormwood; absinthe).
