[edit]Inherited from Chagatai اوی (uy), from Khorezmian Turkic اوذ (ʾwḏ /uḏ, ūḏ/), from Karakhanid اُوذْ (ʾūḏ /ūḏ/) / 𐽰𐽳𐽸 (ʾwd /ūḏ/), from Proto-Turkic *ūd.[1][2] Cognates with Ottoman Turkish اوط (oṭ, od), Kyrgyz and Southern Altai уй (uy).
