Inherited from Proto-Turkic *saġsar (marten); cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (saġsar), Azerbaijani sansar, Bashkir һыуһар (hıwhar), Kazakh сусар (susar), Kyrgyz суусар (suusar), Southern Altai суузар (suuzar) and Uzbek suvsar.
