Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sïndu (scissors),[1] a word which derives from Middle Chinese 剪刀 (t͡siᴇnX tɑu, scissors). Cognate with Karakhanid سِنْدُو (sïndū) and Turkmen syndy.
