Etymology 1

From the root غ ش ي (ḡ-š-y).

Verb

غُشِيَ (ḡušiya) I, non-past يُغْشَى‎ (yuḡšā)

  1. (impersonal) to faint, to swoon
    غُشِيَ عَلَيْهِḡušiya ʿalay-hihe fainted
Usage notes

This is an impersonal verb: it always appears in the third person masculine singular, and the person who faints is placed in a prepositional phrase, not as the subject of the verb.
