Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kạ̄sïk (groin), a development of *kas- (to tighten), whence قاصمق (kasmak, to stretch, tighten). Cognate with Azerbaijani qasıq, Tatar касык (qasıq) and Turkmen gasyk.
