[edit]Etymology
[edit]Two nouns formed with the form of a characteristic adjective from the root ن م م (n-m-m). The choice of root pattern for plant-name is like that of شَمَّام (šammām, “melon”). Its variation is found reversely in نُعَاع (nuʕāʕ) for لُعَاع (luʕāʕ, “tender or fresh greenery; endive”) related to لَاعِيَة (lāʕiya, “green spurge or sun spurge”).
