Persian

Etymology

From کابلی (Kabuli), because when they first appeared it was wrongly believed that they were from Kabul.

Various different words are used to identify them in different regions: In Khorasan, they are called قرشمال (qerešmâl) from earlier غیر شمار (not counted, un-cultured).

In Kerman and Balochistan they are called لولی (luli) or لوری (luri), as they were believed to have been from Luristan.

They are called سوزمانی (suzmâni) in most southern provinces such as Luristan and Kermanshah.
