Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀕𑀸𑀟𑁆𑀟 (*gāḍḍa), which Dasa derives from Sanskrit गान्त्री (gāntrī),[1][2] the feminine variant of गन्तृ (gántṛ).
