Etymology[edit]

Semi-learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܡܐܬܝܢ, from Aramaic מָאתַיִן (māʾṯayin); compare Arabic مِئَتَان (miʔatān) and Hebrew מָאתַיִם (matáyim).
