Etymology
[edit]From ܫܸܡܵܐ (šimmā, “name”) + ܕ- (d-, “of”) + ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ (allāhā, “God”), literally “The name of God”.

- An expression of surprise or awe
- ܫܸܡܵܐ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ! ܟܡܵܐ ܪܒ݂ܹܐ ܠܘܿܟ݂
- šimmā d-allāhā! kmā rḇē lōḵ
- Wow! You’ve grown so much.
- (literally, “The name of God! How much you grew.”)
- Said as a short prayer to someone who has just tripped or fallen
