From Aramaic שְׁקָקָא (šəqāqā), from Akkadian 𒋢𒋡𒄣𒌑 (su-qa-qu-u₂ /⁠suqāqu⁠/); doublet of ܫܘܼܩܵܐ (šūqā, market).
