Etymology[edit]

Semi-learned borrowing from Sanskrit मन्त्रिन् (mantrin). Cognate to Sinhalese මන්ත්‍රී (mantrī) and Hindi मंत्री (mantrī). Doublet of މަންތިރި (man̊tiri)
