Etymology

Borrowed from Sanskrit जम्बु (jambu) or Malay jambu. Doublet of inherited ދަނބު (daᵐbu, “jambul”); compare the development of ދަނބިދޫ (daᵐbidū, “Dhanbidhoo”) from Sanskrit जम्बुद्वीप (jambudvīpa).
