Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀑𑀚𑁆𑀛𑀮𑁆𑀮 (*ojjhalla). Cognate with Punjabi ਓਝਲ (ojhal), Gujarati ઓઝલ (ojhal, “veil”), and perhaps Romani učhal (“shadow; shade”).
