Literally, “fair [around/near the sea of] pot [of nectar]”, a reference to the mythological Samudra Manthana.

     The importance of Kumbh Melas is universal. Even the sages and saints who have been doing penance in solitude for years consider bathing in the Kumbh Melas as an act of virtue.
