Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀤𑁆𑀤𑀸𑀮 (kuddāla), from Sanskrit कुद्दाल (kuddāla), probably borrowed from Dravidian. Cognate with Pali kuddāla, Assamese কোদাল (küdal).
