Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *gáwHyuHtiš (“pasture, grassland”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬔𐬀𐬊𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬊𐬌𐬙𐬌 (gaoiiaoiti, “pasture”).
