Possibly from Classical Persian توته (tōta, “parrot”), طوطی (tūtī). Compare Punjabi ਤੋਤਾ (totā) / طوطا (t̤ot̤ā), Sindhi طوطو (t̤ot̤o) / तोतो (toto).
