Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *dŕ̥H-weh₂ (“grass”). Cognate with Welsh drewg (“darnel”), Lithuanian dirvà (“field”), Breton draok (“darnel”), English tare. Compare also Latin dravoca (“darnel, cockle”), a Gaulish borrowing.
