Etymology

From Proto-Indo-Aryan *náHsaH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *náHsaH, from Proto-Indo-European *néh₂s- (nose). Cognate with Latin nāsus (nose), Russian нос (nos), Old English nosu (whence English nose).
