Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian مزدور (muzdūr), which in turn inherited from Middle Persian [script needed] (myzdwbl /⁠mizdwar⁠/, hireling, hired laborer).[1] Compare Bengali মজদুর (mojdur).
