Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *HsuHápas (doing good work; artistic, well created), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁su-h₃ép-os, from *h₁su- (good) + *h₃ep- (work). Cognate with Old Avestan 𐬵𐬎𐬎𐬁𐬞𐬀𐬵 (huuāpah, doing good work), Persian خوب (xub, good, well, nice).
