Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀘𑁄𑀓𑁆𑀔 (cokkha), perhaps borrowed from Dravidian (compare Tamil சொகுசு (cokucu, luxury)).[1][2] Doublet of ચોખ (cokh, clean). Cognate with Kachchi ચૌખા (caukhā) and Sindhi چوکو / चोखो (cokho)
