[edit]Etymology
[edit]According to MED, possibly borrowed from a Pali tajjaka, though said word does not seem to be attested in the Pali-English Dictionary. The Pali word in question may be a nominal formation from or related to tajjeti (“to frighten, threaten, curse, rail against”), itself a causative of tarjati, from Sanskrit तर्जति (tárjati, “to threaten, scold”); see there for more.
