Etymology
From Old Burmese ဟေတ်, from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *b-r-gjat ~ b-g-rjat (“eight”). Cognate with Tibetan བརྒྱད (brgyad), Jingpho matsat, Nuosu ꉆ (hxit), S'gaw Karen ဃိး (ghó).
