Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *ɣel-. Cognate with Svan ლა-ღელ-ი-ა̈შ (la-ɣel-i-äš), Laz ღალ-ა-ჯიჯ-ა (ğal-a-cic-a).
