1. A letter of the Runic alphabet, with the reconstructed name *haglaz (“hail”), representing /x/ or /h/.

Usage notes

Present in the Elder Fuþark (ᚺ in Scandinavian inscriptions, and ᚻ in continental ones), the Anglo-Saxon Fuþorc (ᚻ, called hæġl), and the Younger Fuþark (ᚼ), in the Anglo-Saxon Fuþorc.
