Translingual
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Source unknown. Since the original sound value of ⰼ approximated /d͡ʑ/, it was used to render the Byzantine Greek pronunciation of palatalized [gʲ] in such borrowings as ⰼⰵⱀⱁⰰ (đenoa, “hell”) (from Greek γεέννα (geénna)) as well as the reflexes of Proto-Slavic */d'/ in the Western South Slavic medieval texts.
Letter
[edit]- The twelfth letter of the Glagolitic alphabet.
